Who are we?
MEET VALENTINA AND CALLIE.
Proscenium Pictures is a film production company founded in 2024 by Valentina Navarro-Marsili, born out of its debut film We Were Girls Together. It is a creative partnership between Valentina and Callie, who began working together on Gloryland as a director–associate producer duo.
But it's also a best friendship: we met at an orientation event at the USC School of Dramatic Arts, and stayed up laughing (and crying) in a practice room at the dorms until 4am on that same night.
Proscenium Pictures creates genre-driven, character-focused work with a strong emphasis on stylized sound. We are drawn to women’s stories, and narratives in English and Spanish, reflecting Valentina’s Spanish-American background.
Valentina is pursuing a career as a director/actor, and edits on the side. She also would like to establish herself between the California coast and Western Europe, namely London and Spain. Valentina also loves oceanography and hopes to support ocean scientists by bridging the art-science communications gap. Callie is pursuing a career as an actress and producer/assistant director. She also finds herself constantly drawn into the realm of cinematography through light in film, working as a gaffer/grip often. She is currently bi-coastal, having roots in both the Los Angeles and Atlanta film worlds. Callie’s art is heavily influenced by her upbringing in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, always seeking nature's presence in her projects. Both trained as actresses at USC, we quickly found that the acting and cinema schools weren’t connecting in the way we were looking for—so we built our own bridge. Together, we worked on as many sets as we could, in front of and behind the camera—ultimately deciding to make our own films outside of any prescribed curriculum.
